My first time here and not my last. Everything was good, the chicken is the only thing I expected to be a bit thinner and more flavorful. But I would come back for the BEST salt and vinegar fries!! Damn those were good washed down with my honey lager

It's a bar with some decent bar food. I had the CY burger recently and it wasn't anything too crazy but was a solid meal prior to heading to Chase Center for a game. If you live in this part of Potrero this is probably a pretty solid bar but I don't think I'd travel for it unless I was heading to a basketball game or a show at the bottom of the hill or something. They also don't like it if you ask for specific flavors of white claw/high noon which is kind of funny since that doesn't strike me as a weird request. Like you can just organize them by flavor in the fridge right?

Friendly neighborhood pub. Super dog friendly, good services, and offers multiple options of shot+beer combinations. Will return for casual beer and hangout.

We found this place on our way to a show in the Dogpatch.

I instantly fell in love as soon as we walked in. I'm from the east coast, and it made me feel like I was back at home.

Whenever we are in the area, we try to stop by for a drink and some fries!

this place has been here forever....when i worked in this part of town in the 90s, i would have lunch here a lot and called it "The Spanky". I had dinner here before a show at Bottom Of The Hill.

It still feels like the place where locals drink a lot of beer. The food is good pub food. There's a lot of love emanating from the place and probably a few ghosts.

i give you five for the memories ....long live the Spanky

Drove by this place a bunch of times and was curious what it was like. And then my friend who works in the area suggested we meet here for lunch. I love trying new places so of course I said yes! It definitely has dive bar vibes inside. But my friend suggests we sit on the back patio which was an awesome space!

Pretty good menu options. He suggested the fried chicken sandwich so I ordered that. It was super yummy. He had a salad and enjoyed his meal as well.

The service was friendly and prompt. Seems like it has a regular neighborhood crowd and I can see why!

I'll definitely meet up here again in the future. Good stuff!

Had a delicious (and giant) bloody mary here and then some good fries. CY was a low-key place to meet a first date. I had zero expectations for the date *and* the bar, and was pleasantly surprised by both! There need to be down-to-earth places like this in an Instagrammed city that is too precious, inaccessible and full of itself. (And note, the first date right before this one was at the fancy Palm Court Restaurant... so I appreciate the full spectrum of SF restaurants.)

The vibe here reminds me of my fun days in SF as a young woman in the 90s... Nice staff who left us alone enough to get swept away in conversation (the two old people making googly eyes at each other and laughing like crazy...) but didn't totally ignore us. Friendly regulars. Got a fantastic kiss at my car after our drinks and we're still going strong, so... this bar has a place in my heart now.
